The Black Energy Professionals Association (BEPA)

The Black Energy Professionals Association (BEPA) is a non-profit organisation established in 2017 to champion the transformation of South Africa’s energy sector. While the industry continues to grow, black participation remains disproportionately low. BEPA exists to represent and advance the collective interests of black professionals, driving radical economic transformation and ensuring meaningful inclusion across the entire energy value chain.Through collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and advocacy, BEPA empowers its members to act collectively on matters of mutual concern while optimising access to projects and opportunities in the sector.

The association serves as a unified voice for black professionals, addressing industry challenges, shaping transformation strategies, and providing decision-makers with informed perspectives to improve black participation. BEPA is dedicated to developing skilled black professionals and expanding their involvement in all areas of the energy industry, including renewable and alternative energy, petroleum, oil and natural gas, coal, electricity, and nuclear energy. By fostering empowerment, creating networks, and promoting excellence, BEPA contributes to building a sustainable, inclusive, and transformed energy sector for South Africa.
