The MENstruation Foundation, is a nonprofit organisation that fights period poverty and gives women dignity. Girls in South Africa miss school and stay at home because of menstruation. The culture of silence around menstruation limits the ability of women and girls to equally participate in society. It undermines their social status and self-esteem. We give women the right to go to school, play sport, go to work and participate in life despite not being able to afford sanitary products.

Wedgewood Nougat started in 1999 in our family kitchen. Our Mum Gilly Walters is a naturally innovative culinary pioneer who began hosting concerts at her home for up to 100 guests. She would entertained and delighted her guests with culinary creations from her kitchen. Gilly had travelled to France as a aupair in her youth and decided to try to recreate the Montpelemar nougat as an evening alternative to dessert. The first batch was runny and had to be served frozen. Not one to give up, Gilly toiled over the stove for five months before she perfected the Wedgewood recipe that we still make today. Starting small, Gilly took her new innovation to the local farmer’s market and quickly gained a following with her nougat and her totally unique nougat biscuits. To this day, we still use only the finest sustainably sourced and environmentally friendly ingredients, and Gilly’s world class recipes are still made with the same attention to detail and innovative passion in every turn of the whisk.

The Shimansky story began in 1991, when founder and CEO, Yair Shimansky, arrived in South Africa after spending two years in Japan. The time spent in Japan served not only as a rite of passage into the world of diamonds and jewellery, but also as a major learning curve. It was here that he studied the science of light & optics in diamonds and where the Japanese culture of perfection made a life-long impression on him. Having learnt the intricacies of diamond qualities and the importance of cut and proportion, he was armed with a unique perspective on diamonds.

Upon his arrival in South Africa, Shimansky started designing and crafting jewellery which he sold at a craft market for one year before opening a small outlet in a popular shopping mall. This lead to the opening of the first Shimansky boutique store in 1994

Olli and Rose was founded by sisters Yolandi and Monica in 2018, inspired by their father Ollie, whose values of strength, direction, and hard work continue to shape the brand. Named in his memory, “Olli” stems from his motto, “One Life, Live It,” and their surname, Olwage.

Starting in a garage in 2018, the brand’s journey began when Yolandi and her husband Gareth welcomed their son, Jordan, sparking the idea for a baby-focused company. With their combined experience in business management and marketing, Yolandi and Monica brought Olli and Rose to life.
Today, the proudly South African brand has grown beyond its humble beginnings and now operates in a full-scale factory, supported by a dedicated team of artisans who bring passion and skill to every piece.
