If I could be a superhero, I’d choose to be Black Panther. T’Challa, the Black Panther, embodies a unique combination of traditional values and cutting-edge innovation that resonates deeply with me. As the leader of Wakanda, he demonstrates how advanced technology can be harmoniously integrated with cultural heritage and environmental stewardship, promoting sustainable development.
2. What is one quote or mantra you live by and why?
One quote I live by is from MaKhumalo: ‘Children are born curious; they observe and experiment. Let us nurture and encourage the natural curiosity of our children, for it is the spark that ignites their lifelong love for learning and exploration.’ This mantra serves as a constant reminder in my role as an advocate for gender equality in STEM fields and it reinforces my belief that investing in young girls’ education and encouraging their interest in STEM should be a consistent, daily effort. It motivates me to create and support initiatives that provide equal opportunities for girls to explore.
3. Best advice you received and who was it from?
The best advice I received came from one of my early career mentors. He told me: ‘As you progress through different positions in your career, each role will demand a unique skill. Make it your mission to acquire and master that skill, adding it to your professional toolkit. Over time, you’ll build a diverse set of competencies that, when combined, will be the foundation of a successful and dynamic career.
